FoldsWithin Folds

Folds Within Folds is a conceptual magazine designed for a print company showcasing the many ways folding can shape, transform, and define design. The publication explores and interprets a different definition of fold including over the fold, cross-fold, to wrap and envelop, and multiplication.

The magazine’s design can be defined in three words: bold, expressive, and experimental. Utilization of strong compositions, high contrast, and bold typography were chosen to create immediate visual impact while maintaining viewer flow and progression. The magazine challenges traditional designs through the use of pacing, hierarchy, and unconventional typography and image treatment, allowing the viewer to engage in new ways of thinking. The concept of fold and the designs of the pages were intended to mirror the nature of folding in print–like paper, ideas can be bent, layered, and transformed to create new forms of meaning.
